Our “Day For It” charter is the quintessential Perth boating experience delivering amazing ocean fun, seafood, scenery & comfort tailored to the local conditions. Start the day departing from Fremantle Fishing Boat harbour and head out to harvest the west coast's symbol of seafood luxury, the Western Rock Lobster. This delicacy is found only in the pristine waters of Western Australian and demands hundreds of dollars per kilo in Asian markets. Next, we will chase the best table fish the coast has to offer. Depending on conditions, we will target Pink Snapper, Baldchin Groper, King George Whiting, Squid or the prized West Australian Dhu fish. After a morning of fishing we will head for one of the beautiful bays on the offshore islands of Perth and aren’t we spoilt for choice! We will head to Rottnest, Garden or Carnac Island depending on the weather conditions on the day. While the day's catch is being prepared, you and your guests can thead off on a kayak or SUP, play a few overs of beach cricket, snorkel the bay's reefs or just relax on our sun lounges under the McLaughlan's umbrellas. Lunch is served and the amazing delicate flavours of freshly harvested seafood are the star of the show. During the Charter we regularly sight Australian Sea Lions, Fur Seals, Bottlenose Dolphins and Humpback Whales. Whilst at anchor schools of Herring and inquisitive rays pay us a visit also looking for a taste of cooked lobster. Spend the rest of the day your way before we pull anchor and head back to Fremantle. “What a Day” is all about enjoying yourselves and making the most of the local conditions. This day is designed around Mother Nature’s finest; we aim to get you close to the big three mammals found off Perth’s coastline and provide a fun interactive day with knowledgeable crew members. “The Big 3” charter heads out from Fremantle Boat Harbour and starts with a quick 20-minute cruise to Carnac Island where we will anchor in the shallows. For those who want to go snorkelling you will enter the water with the Due West crew and greet the Sea Lions. These inquisitive animals seek out interaction with humans and enjoy showing off their amazing underwater acrobatics to the awkward human swimmers! For those that don’t want to snorkel we have the option to either stand up paddle board or kayak. After our sea lion interaction, depending on the weather and the time of year we will head out wider to look for the migrating humpback whales. The whales migrate along Western Australia’s Humpback Highway heading north during late Winter to their calving grounds in warmer waters before migrating south with their young during Spring to their Antarctic feeding grounds. Peak periods for whale spotting off Perth is June / July for the northern migration, and on the southern migration between September till early December when they return with calves. We will then head to one of the many beautiful, sheltered bays on Perth’s offshore islands for lunch, swimming, kayaking, snorkelling, paddle boarding or just lounging. The bottlenose dolphins often accompany us into the bays at the islands where their favourite thing to do is ride the wake of our vessel and guide us into their tranquil bays. We tailor the days fishing to suit conditions and the time of year to ensure maximum enjoyment is had by all. When fishing the FAD’s (Fish Attracting Devices) for the beautiful Mahi Mahi we aim for an early start and plan to be at the FAD’s prior to sun up. We will then drift the FAD’s using the McLaughlan’s bright lights which help to attract the fluorescent fish to us. This also takes advantage of the sunrise bite. Depending on weather and time of year we can be fishing the FAD’s for Dolphin fish or battling against the heavyweights of Perth waters, the Samson Fish or Perth’s premier table fish the Dhu Fish, Baldchin, Snapper, and King George Whiting. We also commonly tangle with a host of other pelagic fish including, Tuna, Mackerel, Yellow Tail Kingfish and a variety of different shark species. This charter is fully catered for, except for alcoholic beverages, and includes a delicious lunch of freshly prepared ‘catch of the day’ in a sheltered bay off of Perth’s islands. We offer fully catered (excluding alcoholic beverages) daytime and evening charters on the river with the option to board at a variety of different jetties between East St Jetty in Fremantle and the Barrack Street in Perth City. Charters take advantage of the prevailing weather conditions and put your group in the best location on the day with beautiful mooring locations in Rocky Bay, Mosman Bay, Black Wall Reach or tucked inside the Narrows Bridge to admire the city lights. Depending on the time slot we offer 4 and 6 hour charters. All daytime charters include the option to use the kayaks and stand up paddle boards whilst at anchor.
